PODD Communication Books

PODDS are multi-level communication books that contain symbols and words to support communication between people with complex communication needs and their communication partners. The vocabulary and symbols are personalized to the user. The aim of a PODD book is to be a portable communication system that can be used across a range of environments.

PODDs come in various formats and sizes to meet different communication needs and abilities. It’s important to work with a Speech Pathologist to work out which PODD would suit you best, and to work out what vocabulary is needed. Ideally, it’s worth trialing a PODD book for a few weeks to finalise vocabulary and layout choices before committing to a “final draft”.

Once you have settled on what symbols need adding/modifying, I will use this information to make up a customised PODD book for you. The package includes:

PODD BOOK:

Customisation of symbols/pages
Printing onto heavier gauge paper (which includes the option of waterproof paper if required)
Laminating front and back pages OR whole PODD book (if smaller or specifically required)
Construction of the PODD book - including binding and trimming tabs

This option provides clinicians with a sample PODD book to use for demonstrations with clients. This includes:

No customizations (templates only)
Printing onto heavier gauge paper + laminate front and back pages
Construction of PODD - including binding and trimming tabs
